2025-26 Topps Chrome Black
Basketball

The hobby's darkest premium format comes to the NBA — and it lands in the middle of the Cooper Flagg rookie class. Black-border chromium, a premium on-card autograph roster, and two brand-new rookie-auto programs. Pre-orders opened July 28. Here's what Topps has confirmed, what's still TBD, and how to play a premium debut without paying the hype tax.

Pre-order Jul 28, 2026 🏀 First NBA Chrome Black Rookies: Flagg · Harper · Knueppel MSRP & config TBD
⚠️ Pre-orders opened July 28, 2026 (4:00 PM UTC). Topps has published the insert and autograph programs but not the MSRP, box configuration, or checklist — those rows stay TBD below; we don't invent numbers. No sold comps exist yet. The "Live asks" figures on this page are active eBay asking prices pulled through our eBay API feed — the ask side of the market, not sold values. Set facts via the official Topps product page, as of Jul 28, 2026.

2025-26 Topps Chrome Black Basketball — At a Glance

Chrome Black's shadow-driven black-chromium design carries the biggest names in basketball — Wembanyama, LeBron, Curry, SGA, Edwards, Brunson, Dončić, Durant — plus the rookie class the whole hobby is grading: Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, Kon Knueppel. Two new autograph ideas (Glow Up Signatures) and three new inserts (Black Lightning, Carbon Flare, Obscura) debut here.

Live Asks — Straight From eBay

No sold comps exist for a product this new, so instead of a "check back later" we show you the ask side of the tape, live: current eBay asking prices for this product, pulled through our eBay API feed each time the page loads, filtered to verified title matches. An ask is what sellers want, not what buyers paid — read it as the ceiling of the negotiation, not the market.

The Chase

What You're Actually Chasing

Every program below is confirmed on the official Topps product page. Until the checklist and config drop, the play is knowing where the demand will concentrate: the Flagg-class rookie ink and the low-pop black canvas.

Card / SubsetTierWhy It's the ChaseVerdictFind
Rookie AutographsFlagg-class on-card programTop hitThe box-carrying pull. A Flagg Chrome Black rookie auto on the black canvas is the set's obvious flagship card — and Harper/Knueppel give the program depth beyond one name.ChaseeBay →
Glow Up SignaturesNEW · rising-star rookie autosNew programNew for 2026 — rookie autographs in a prospect-to-star design; Topps previewed both Flagg and Harper red refractors. Expect this to be the second-most-chased rookie ink in the product.ChaseeBay →
Ivory AutographsStars & legends · white-border counterpointPremiumThe ivory-on-black contrast is Chrome Black's signature aesthetic. Iverson and a Durant superfractor are already previewed — legend ink on this canvas is the set's most durable demand pool.ChaseeBay →
Autograph VariationsLeBron / Curry / Brunson / WembyCore autoThe veteran-star program. Stars stay liquid on any canvas; the black border compresses gem-mint supply, which is the whole Chrome Black thesis.HoldeBay →
Super Futures AutographsYoung-talent programAutoThe forward-looking bet, carried over from the Chrome Black family. Value swings entirely on sophomore-season production — buy the player, not the checklist line.WatcheBay →
Home Court SPFan-favorite, first time on ChromeSP insertThe known-quantity insert — an established SP program moving onto chromium stock for the first time. Star and Flagg versions will carry it; commons won't.WatcheBay →

The Thesis

Why the Black Border Matters

Chrome Black is a condition-sensitivity play. Black borders chip; centering shows; surface lines photograph. That structurally compresses PSA 10 populations relative to standard Chrome on the exact same player — and widens the graded premium. For the first NBA edition to land mid-Flagg-class, the math is simple: same rookie, darker canvas, fewer gems. If you're buying raw to grade, edges under a loupe — not just a clean scan.

Where to Buy

Sealed & Singles

No MSRP has been posted, so the only prices in the market right now are secondary asks. Premium-tier NBA Chrome has recently presaled in the $300–$500+ band (the football edition was $319.99/box) — that's family context, not this product's price. Wait for the real number.

Variables That Move This Set

⬛ HIGH IMPACT
The MSRP & Config Reveal
Everything prices off the box structure — autos per box, packs per box, MSRP. A one-auto $350+ config makes this a singles product; a richer config changes the rip math entirely.
⬛ HIGH IMPACT
Flagg's Sophomore Season
The set ships into year two of the Flagg era. His standard Chrome PSA 10 comps set the reference price for every Flagg card in this product. If the sophomore leap lands, the whole checklist re-rates.
◯ MEDIUM
NBA-Debut Print Run
First-year editions have no print-run precedent. The football debut's sealed price corrected after week one while low-serial rookies held. Watch presale sell-through speed as the supply signal.
☉ LOWER
New-Insert Lottery
Black Lightning, Obscura, and Carbon Flare are unproven. One breakout design would add a real chase tier. Let week-one asks tell you which one, if any.
Avoid

What to Skip

Pre-ordering before the MSRP/config posts — you cannot price a box with unknown contents. The "family precedent" number is context, not a quote.
Paying launch-week ask prices on singles — supply peaks 2–4 weeks post-release on every premium debut; the ask side cools with it. The live-ask panel above is your tape.
Raw black-border cards you plan to grade, bought unseen — chipping and centering eat the grading spread. Buy graded or buy with edge photos.
New-insert FOMO — three unproven designs launch at once; at most one historically matters. Wait for the market to pick it.
