Any preorder above MSRP — Waves keep dropping and stock is holding up better than Pitch Black or Prismatic did. The scalper premium evaporates at each restock. List price or wait.

Sealed as a long hold — Anniversary sets get printed to meet demand (Celebrations 2021 was reprinted into oblivion and sealed compressed for a year). An all-holo mass-market celebration set is built for volume, not scarcity. Hold the right singles, not the boxes.

Paying secret-rare hype prices before comps exist — Every card exists as a single after September 16. Pre-release "market" prices on Mewtwo ex 157/128 are guesses; the 30-day settle is historically well below launch-week asks.

Buying the UPC purely as a Classic Collection lottery ticket above list — One 3-card Classic pack per $179.99 box. At MSRP the whole package justifies itself; above MSRP you're paying a scalper for three cards of variance.

Classic Collection Pull Rates in Regular Packs
Reprints as "rare chase cards" in standard boosters — at unpublished odds. If the Charizard reprint pulls at Umbreon-SIR-style rates (~1:1,400), its single price runs to several hundred dollars; if it's merely uncommon, the UPC exclusivity story weakens. First-week rip data settles this.

Capital Rotation Out of the Mega Block
Anniversary hype pulls collector dollars from Pitch Black and the rest of the 2026 Mega sets through Q4. If you're holding Mega-era SIRs for a flip, the pre–Sep 16 window is when attention (and liquidity) is still on them.
