Update, Sep 30, 2026: our Pokémon indices were rebased so that 100 is each set's release month, not the day we started tracking (method). Index levels quoted below were written on the old base; the week-to-week moves are the same, but the levels will not match the index pages now. Both sets got their own sold-basis index on Aug 24, 2026, at 100.00. On the Sep 28 mark Ascended Heroes sat at 88.45 (down 11.55%) and Chaos Rising at 85.28 (down 14.72%). Ascended Heroes has been ahead at all five weekly marks since launch, though the gap narrowed to 0.71 points on Sep 21 before it widened again. Both fell hard in the latest week: Chaos Rising by 8.5%, its worst week on our index, and Ascended Heroes by 5.8%. The chase cards are not close: Ascended Heroes' top three add up to $2,136.00 in sold comps against $346.50 for Chaos Rising. Chaos Rising is the much cheaper way in: Elite Trainer Box lowest ask $62.00 against $140.00 on Sep 30, and booster bundles $33.99 against $74.99.

Sealed figures are live eBay asks on Sep 30, 2026, read through our comps endpoint with cases, protectors, lots, multi-box listings, single packs, blisters, empty or opened boxes, loose-pack “box equivalents”, weighed “heavy” listings and Pokémon Center exclusives filtered out by title; an ask is what a seller wants, not what a box sold for. Per-pack figures divide the ask by the pack count the product states (9 in an Elite Trainer Box, 6 in a bundle, 36 in a display). Index levels are sold-basis and re-marked weekly on Mondays. On the index, Ascended Heroes is the better holder, and it has been every week. Same start date, same method: after six weekly marks it leads by 3.17 points and has never trailed. The lead shrank to 0.71 on Sep 21, so it is not a wide moat.
Both are falling. Chaos Rising lost 8.5% in one week and Ascended Heroes 5.8%. Every modern Pokémon set index we track fell on the Sep 28 mark (the board). Holding either set has cost money since Aug 24. The honest question is which one is falling slower, and that is Ascended Heroes.
The chase list is the gap. Mega Gengar ex SIR and Pikachu ex SIR each sell for more than five times Chaos Rising's best card. If you open for one big hit, the ceiling is far higher in Ascended Heroes. Chaos Rising's index basket is smaller, 36 priced cards against 70, and its ceiling is lower.
Chaos Rising wins on price of entry. Its Elite Trainer Box asks $78.00 less and its booster bundle $41.00 less than Ascended Heroes' on Sep 30, and it has a factory booster box listed at about $5.69 a pack. Cheap packs and a lower index are the same fact seen from two sides: the market is paying less for what comes out of them.
What the tape does not say. Six weekly marks is a short history, and neither index reaches back to release day. The sealed figures are asks, so they show where sellers are, not where boxes clear.
