Two set indices, six sold comps, four sealed asks. The index rows decide the headline and they go to Surging Sparks. The chase rows go to Destined Rivals. The sealed rows are asks, and they split.

Green edge marks the side the row favors; on the sealed rows that is the cheaper entry, and the booster bundle row is left unmarked because the lows are two cents apart. Singles are sold comps: PriceCharting completed sales, the median of the 30 most recent, window shown per cell. Sealed figures are live eBay asks on Oct 7, 2026, read through our comps endpoint with cases, lots, Costco two-packs, booster-box combos, empty or opened or damaged boxes, sleeved packs and art sets, blisters, non-English product, accessories and Pokémon Center exclusives filtered out by title; counts are the listings that survived the filter among those the endpoint returned (50 per bundle search, 31 for Surging Sparks ETBs, 27 for Destined Rivals ETBs). An ask is what a seller wants, not what a box sold for. Index levels are sold-basis, 100 = each set's release month. ShopCardHub participates in the eBay Partner Network.
Surging Sparks wins the index rows. Measured from each set's release month it has kept about 66% of its level against Destined Rivals' 58%, with six more months on the clock. Over the fifteen calendar months both reconstructions cover, May 2025 to Jul 2026, it lost 12.3% against 28.7%. Destined Rivals has also slipped on the live marks: 63.50 on Sep 21 to 57.81 on Oct 5.
Destined Rivals wins the chase and the ETB. Its top three chase cards add up to $740.58 against $500.00, and Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex SIR alone is worth more than Pikachu ex SIR and Latias ex SIR together. Its Elite Trainer Box is about $15 cheaper at the lowest ask. Booster bundles are level at about $55.
What the tape does not say. The two indices are built differently. DR25 is a chase index of 62 illustration, ultra, special illustration and hyper rares; SSP24 is a full-set index of 250 priced cards with a 25% single-card cap, so commons and uncommons damp its moves. Read the levels as each set's own path from release, not as one scale. SSP24 has two live marks (Oct 4 and Oct 6) and DR25 seven weekly marks (Aug 24 to Oct 5); every month before those is a monthly reconstruction from PriceCharting price history on today's basket, not live marks (method). Both sets sit below their release month, so "held value better" means lost less. The sealed figures are asks; only nine clean Surging Sparks ETB listings came back on Oct 7, so that low is thin, and the lowest Destined Rivals ETB listing is titled as a 2026 reprint.
If the question is which set has held its level, the tape favors Surging Sparks. If the question is which set has the bigger cards to chase, or the cheaper ETB, it is Destined Rivals. Both index pages carry the full baskets: Surging Sparks Set Index and Destined Rivals Chase Index.
