The 2026 Rookie Class Depth
Flagship RC values are entirely performance-driven. If Roman Anthony and the rest of the class produce out of the gate, base RCs and numbered parallels re-rate fast — the 2024 class showed +200–400% on the hottest names. A flat class means flat cards. Track first-half production before paying up.
◧ MEDIUM
Print Run / Overproduction
Flagship is printed heavily. The 2026 "Junk Wax 2.0" debate applies — base and unnumbered parallels stay cheap. Scarcity lives at /99 and below. Buy numbered, not volume.
◌ LOWER
Series 2 & Update Overlap
Series 2 and Update reuse the design and dilute the rookie pool across the year. A card that's hot in February can soften when the same player appears in three more products. Early numbered parallels of the true RC hold best.

What to Skip
✗Paying secondary premiums on sealed hobby — flagship boxes rarely appreciate; if the box is above MSRP, buy singles instead.
✗Unnumbered base parallels as "investments" — Rainbow Foil and Royal Blue are printed in volume and stay cheap. They're collector candy, not holds.
✗Raw rookie cards you plan to grade at the top of their price band — condition drag on centering and chrome lines eats the grading spread. Buy already-graded or buy cheap.
✗Chasing every rookie in the class — flagship RC pools are deep and most names go nowhere. Concentrate on the everyday-role bats and proven arms.
